Welcome back!
Apr 5, 2011Dear Valued Member:
I would like to start by welcoming everyone to Grey Silo and the 2011 golf season, though I am sure that at times over the past few weeks it appeared as though winter was never going to end! The Grey Silo Golf Club will continue to strive to present all who visit us an excellent level of customer service. I will be aided in this venture by a highly competent staff, including for 2011 my new pro shop manager, Eric Chute. Returning members will also undoubtedly recognize some familiar faces in the pro shop again this year, including David Bigelow, Kirsten Doede, and Sabrina King. Kim Reinhardt, Hospitality Manager, will once more be responsible for structuring and presenting a wide variety of events utilizing all of our room facilities. Executive Chef, Geoff Parent, who will be working with Kim on all of the scheduled functions, is returning with us in 2011. Kim and Geoff will, as the year progresses, be creating a variety of menus for all patrons of the Grill Room Restaurant facility and I hope that you as members will take the time to visit the restaurant to sample all it has to offer. Jeff Haynes, the golf course Superintendent, will once again control the daily maintenance of Grey Silo presenting us all with a visually satisfying yet challenging golf experience.
I am extremely pleased to announce a marked increase in the number of new members for 2011 that will be joining a list of returning members at Grey Silo. Included in this grouping is a growing contingent of junior members. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the entire membership, new and old, to come together and form a committee of their choosing, a committee that I am hoping would like to work with me in constructing and presenting to their fellow membership a number of exclusive members events throughout the 2011 season. There will be a sign-up sheet posted for anyone interested in being a part of the 2011 Membership Committee and I would ask those so inclined to take advantage of this opportunity. To further assist you in this endeavor I am herein indicating that there will be a “Members Opening Day” event to be held on Sunday, May 8, 2011. Details of the event, including a sign-up sheet, will be posted in the Pro Shop, locker rooms and on the Grey Silo Members Board, which is located on the wall between the Ladies and Men’s Locker Room entrances, lower level. The day will begin with a breakfast buffet open to all participants followed thereafter by a 4 Ball, Best Ball format event. It is a great opportunity for you all to come out and meet one another in an atmosphere of mutual camaraderie, so let’s get the ball rolling!
The 2011 Grey Silo Men’s Night League will be undergoing a complete makeover in 2011. The league is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 11th and run thereafter for 21 consecutive weeks. Information concerning the new format, as well as sign-up procedures and rules for the upcoming 2011 season will be both e-mailed out to all interested parties and posted on the Men’s Night League board adjacent to the Members Board, lower level, Parkhouse Building. All participants are encouraged to join before the first night of play, a procedure that will help to alleviate any potential first-night rush at the Pro Shop POS station. Membership in the league is open to everyone, so let’s all work together to make this the best league year yet!
I would like to encourage all members, new and returning, to come out and not only enjoy our patio and Grill Room facilities but also visit the Pro Shop to see what we have to offer to help you better enjoy and develop your game throughout the year. The Pro Shop will, in 2011, be carrying a number of name brands exclusive to our location with all products offered at a competitive rate. The 2011 season promises to be an exciting one here at Grey Silo where we will be hosting, among other events, the Canadian National Junior Championship sponsored by Mizuno, a true opportunity to come out and see the future of golf in Canada!
In closing I would like everyone to know that my door is always open and I look forward to meeting with you all as the season progresses. Please feel free to call at any time or better yet drop in and introduce yourselves to myself and the 2011 staff of Grey Silo.
